Today we had our on-campus field trip. We got to visit "Space: The Final Frontier." The activities included using our head as Earth, a lamp as the sun, and a foam ball as the moon. This showed students how the Earth's rotation creates the phases of the moon. The students made their very own sun-clock. (They should have brought this home today.) They also got to use view finders (which most had never used and were amazed) to see pictures of space. These kinds of activities not only expose the students to new and exciting information, but allow them to make connections with the new information. Don't forget to ask your kiddo what he/she learned today.
